Sandra Brick

Itajime shibori is a shaped-resist technique where the folds in the fabric and clamped shapes will resist the dye to create a bold design. Traditionally, the cloth is sandwiched between two pieces of wood, which are held in place with string. Learn the process of pleating and clamping to create striking patterns in fabric. By the end of class, you will be able to define shibori and its history, apply basic Itajime techniques, use both immersion and vat dyeing techniques, and recognize the different color results between silk & cotton fabrics. Perfect for beginners. Materials fee is $15, payable to the instructor at the time of class. ** See supply list of items to bring to class **
